Conducting

During my time at Penn State I took classes in conducting and learned many great things about what it means to stand in front of an ensemble, regardless of ability and age. My greatest conducting accomplishment so far has been getting the opportunity to conduct The Penn State Trombone choir on my own arrangement of the song "The Hymn of Axiom" by Vienna Teng. Throughout this amazing experience of working with and conducting the trombone choir I learned that conducting an ensemble is more then just keeping time. It's about generating a love and passion for the piece of music that the students are playing. Through this experience I learned what it meant to make the music come first for the musicians in the ensemble, the audience, and myself. I loved every bit of this conducting experience.
